On a beautiful sunny day at 25 degrees the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved a new landspeed world record for production cars, on the proving grounds of the Volkswagen Group at Ehra-Lessien (nearby its headquarters at Wolfsburg). In the presence of the German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) and a representative of Guinness Book of Records the Super Sport achieved an average top speed of 431 km/h.

Customers made the Chevrolet Camaro the best-selling sports car in the U.S. for the first full year of sales. From May 2009 to May 2010, Camaro posted 100,000 total sales, outselling its closest competitor by 20,000 vehicles. Camaro now commands 45 percent of the U.S. market for sports cars, and continues to bring new customers to Chevrolet dealerships – both at home and overseas.

Porsche presented the Porsche 918 Spyder concept car at its world debut this evening in Geneva. This mid-engined two-seater combines the performance of a super-sports car with the CO2 emissions of a small compact, an innovative plug-in hybrid concept reducing emissions to just 70 grams CO2 per kilometre and fuel consumption to 3.0 litres/100 kilometres (94 mpg imp).
